I recently read an article in Ad Age, “If the Client Was Always Right, It Wouldn’t Need an Ad Agency”. Moiré is not an ad agency, but a strategic branding, marketing and communications agency. Big difference. Traditional advertising agencies walk a fine line when it comes to “The client is always right.” There is a lot of grey associated with this ideal. It is not simply black and white.

Dating! Some do it for fun and others do it in search of love. There’s a saying that you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you can find your Prince. Unfortunately, some of us have had to kiss more frogs than others, but regardless, dating is a necessary process when trying to understand what qualities you value in your search for a serious relationship.

Recently, I spoke at a Legal Marketing Association (LMA) Conference regarding web technologies and how advancements are changing the way professional services firms respond to the delivery of information needs to clients. Today, just realigning or “refreshing” your website, while helpful, may not be enough to stay competitive. When I reached the section on mobile websites (mobi) during my presentation, I was bombarded with questions regarding the difference between an app and a mobi, including.

How many times have professional services marketers heard the following….

That’s a great idea, but how can we get buy-in?
Personally, I think it’s the thing to do, but partners won’t want to pay for it….
Even if a few people will do it, you’ll never get full partner buy-in….

Choose your own adventure: PPC or SEO?

Scenario: Your company is in a do-or-die situation. If it doesn’t have a web presence and can’t gain any kind of visibility, the possibility of your company going under increases significantly. You have been chosen to set off on a journey to save the company and are given three tools that will help you along your road to success: a large budget, access to PPC & SEO experts and a sword (just kidding…bad joke). There will be obstacles along the way: money constraints, content issues, fire breathing dragons and competition. The power is yours!

We sat down with our Intern, Ani, last week to find out a little more about her. Moving from Berlin to DC for an internship, Ani with be with Moiré until the end of the summer. Below is the Q&A from our sit down.

Q: How would you describe Moiré & your experience so far?

A: Great team, challenging, versatile, welcoming, directly integrated in projects, great intern program, helpful employees that share and teach me their knowledge and a nice, welcoming office.

I am on a quest to find the perfect pair of black sandals, and when I say perfect, I mean A-MAZING - comfortable, unique, versatile; a pair of shoes that invoke the green-eyed monster in every woman that sees them. This has been an endless process because for every pair of shoes I love, I start to think that maybe there is another pair somewhere I will like better. In many ways, the search for the perfect pair of shoes is very similar to the way professional services firms go about finding agencies who will help them with their brand.

A huge misconception of social media is that if you build it they will come. This is not field of dreams. In addition, joining social media networks is not like advertising. You must be proactive and reach out to fellow group members, network and create those relationships. It is those relationships that assist in leading to new business opportunities. Merely joining a group or building a profile does not lead to new business.

With the ongoing changes in professional marketing, and the diversity of tasks that continue to fall under marketing positions, your time as a marketing professional can be spread in so many different directions. This means you probably don’t have the concentrated time or energy to put in the type of effort you want to give for any particular task.

Most people eagerly anticipate March's arrival. The days get warmer, the cherry trees begin to bloom, the sun still shines in the late afternoon when the workday is over and you can hear birds chirping for the first time in months. For me, however, I associate March with the basketball court, the swish of a three point shot gliding through a net and the frenzied atmosphere of sports bars. It's March Madness time!
